M.J. “Dolly” Cooper
June 29, 1920 ---- April 26,2009

The South Carolina Military Museum takes great pleasure with the induction of Mr. M.J. “Dolly” Cooper into the S. C. Wall of Honor. The Wall of Honor is made up of outstanding South Carolinians whom have contributed to our great Palmetto State and to the Nation.

Dolly served our country for five years during World War II receiving the Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart. He was engaged in six major campaigns in the East African Middle European Theater of operations.

After returning from WWII Dolly worked in numerous civic position endeared to making lifestyles better for his fellow neighbors of Anderson County.

In 1974 Dolly was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives and continued his passion for his county and the people of South Carolina. Dolly retired from the legislature in 1990 and received the “Order of the Palmetto” from Honorable Governor of South Carolina, Carroll Campbell for his lifetime achievements’ and devotion to the Piedmont Community.
