March 8, 2008: Annual Dining Out

During the May 2008 Dining Out, the 12th Legal Services Organization (12th LSO), in recognition of its 50th Anniversary as a command in the United States Army Reserves, inducted its first honorees into the 12th LSO Alumni Hall of Fame. The 12th LSO honored BG Eugene Powell, Deputy Commander, Joint Services Detachment, SC Military Department, as its first officer inductee. Colonel Daniel Shearouse (left), Clerk of the South Carolina Supreme Court and former commander of the 12th LSO, presented the award to BG Powell. Then Colonel Powell served as the commander of the 12th Military Law Center (now the 12th LSO) from 1986 – 1990. US Forces Command awarded him the Legion of Merit for his services. BG Powell retired from 35 years active and reserve service in the Army. He served active tours during the Vietnam era and Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

 

 


February 26, 2008

SC House Resolution recognizes the Joint Services Detachment of the South Carolina Military Department upon the occasion of the tenth anniversary of its operation, and to express gratitude for the service its participants provide to the citizens of South Carolina.
